Transnational Meeting: The Harlequin Cloak goes to Europe

From 13 to 18 February 2024, at the Monastero del Carmine in Bergamo, the Tascabile proposes ‘Sane. Il Mantello di Arlecchino va in Europa’ (Harlequin's Cloak goes to Europe), a week of meetings, screenings, films and performances dedicated to participatory theatre and art and cultural bartering, artistic-social practices developed by TTB during its artistic career.
Il Mantello di Arlecchino (Harlequin's Cloak) is a project for the neighbourhoods of Bergamo conceived and developed by Teatro Tascabile in collaboration with the Servizio Reti di Quartiere in 2022 and 2023, an example of participatory theatre and art with a strong social impact, aimed at strengthening ties between the inhabitants of the same geographical area.
SANE is the acronym for ‘Stories About a new Europe’, a European project proposed by Residui Teatro (Spain) and shared with Antagon - TheaterAKTion (Germany), Teatr Brama (Poland) and Teatro tascabile di Bergamo, which aims to encourage the meeting between the values of different cultures in order to shape a new possibility of coexistence, a new European identity in which all people can feel represented.

Through the exchange of strategies and methodologies of inclusive artistic action between the participating groups, aimed at working in the different communities of origin, Harlequin's Cloak becomes an object of study and a methodological model that can be exported to other European countries. In fact, similar projects of the project partners are planned in Spain, Germany and Poland.
The meeting between SANE and Il Mantello di Arlecchino will take the form of six days of meetings, lectures and films to recount the origins of ‘cultural bartering’ and other experiences of participatory theatre and art, followed by performances by international guest groups in Bergamo.
